History

BAPTA was formed by a small group of Bay Area Ticketing professionals who were looking for a way to connect with their local colleagues to share information and to discuss industry issues. In late 1999, Russ Stanley (SF Giants) and Rise Walter (SF Symphony) called a few of their ticketing friends and organized an informed social gathering. The turn out was large and the conversation lively. It was apparent to everyone who attended that there was a genuine need to create additional opportunities for Bay Area ticketing professionals to meet on a regular basis, hence BAPTA was born.

BAPTA now has over 100 members from a wide variety of venues, promoters, sports teams, museums, art organizations, performing arts centers, and tourist attractions. BAPTA is a regional affiliate of INTIX, the International Ticketing Association, which serves ticketing professionals across the globe.
